New Alt.Binz versions => Bugs => Topic started by: opentoe on March 21, 2010, 09:57:18 am

I've downloaded several things. All RAR parts available, no repair needed. For some reason even when auto-unrar is checked off Altbinz is not performing the function. I'm forced to use Winrar manually to complete the process. I'm a long time user. Anyone else have this type of issue? Any recommendations?
Even when I am in the download queue and right click and then select UNRAR is still does not UNRAR. This use to work fine for a long time now.
p.s. I also DO NOT expect support or anyone to bend over backwards to help me. I've enjoyed this software for a long time now with a very sensible donation has kept me interested all this time. Even if there are little bugs or issues, I still think a program like this and it developers are great. It is also a shame to see "cracked" versions of this on usenet.

As unrar works perfectly here, you'll need to provide the steps to reproduce this error. There's little chance of a fix otherwise.

Updated info. There are random downloads that do not auto-unrar. Some do, and some do not.
The following is an example of what will not auto-unrar. I can repeat this over and over, same result. I have tried this on multiple computer's also, all of them same result. Can someone please try to download the following and see if it unrar's? I would appreciate it.
Even when I right click on it and select UNRAR it does perform it.

That's the subject header for an non-rar sample file, it would be easier if you could post a link to the actual NZB you used.

I have also witnessed this from time to time, but was not too worried about it. I have done a little research into various d/l scenarios and I see a pattern. If I use BinSearch and d/l a set; which just so happens to include no par files it does not unrar. This may be expected behavior since file can not be confirmed w/o par files; why attempt to unrar if files have not been validated. If I d/l the same set but also select the entry with cooresponding par files then the files are validated and unrared. To me this makes sense since nzb files typically include par files and that scenario would never arise. This may be the scenario OpenToe is witnessing. Please note, this is just my observation and I may be completely off base with my findings. :)

I think we established this fact 2 years ago. No pars no unraring.

I just joined Alt.Binz so I am still getting familiar with the application. Sorry for the long winded explanation on a topic already discussed. As for what I witnessed, I assumed that was the case and it makes complete sense to me. Thanks for confirming.

FYI, this one does have a couple PAR files with it.

Caprica.S01E08.720p.HDTV.x264-ORENJI.1.nzb
FYI, this one does have a couple PAR files with it.
tested it with nzb from binsearch-tab and after a small repair it unrared just fine...
-
And again, plz post the link to the ACTUAL nzb on Binsearch or upload it somewhere (not just the name) so we can make some progress debugging this.
-
one reason this could be happening could be uploaders. in the last few day i came across at least 5 or more collections where the par2-set didn't include any rar files and therfore was pretty useless in terms of repair or unraring...

I vote: Colonel Mustard, in the Library, with the Candlestick!!
This is just idle speculation until we have the NZB itself. :P
-
Hopefully this is what is needed. I'm very good at downloading content, but when it comes to the NZB's themselves I'm not an expert. I hope this is what is needed. I apologize if this is what is not needed. I couldn't find anywhere to upload/attach the file itself.
Here is where you can get the NZB.

NFO missing in NZB, recovery blocks are missing in NZB, nfo is included in par2 set.... So nothing strange about why id doesn't want to unrar it.

Noticed the same problem a few times also.
Caprica S01E09 ( the poster had reported the problems with Caprica S01E08) has the same problem. Justified s01e02 same problem.

Problem started with 0.31.5

I've just tried both and I see no problem. Both unrared correctly
-
The first one I had a problem with. The PARs weren't recognised by AB, not loaded in PAR2 tab - and QuickPAR couldn't seem to do anything with them either.
Edit: Sorry, my bad, the prob was with E01.

unrared without a problem...
