.1 added to video filename after collection extraction
« on: January 07, 2018, 12:31:16 PM »
I have noticed that after the collections are unrared (I have autounrar enabled) the video filename seems to get an additional ".1" at the end of the filename. Don't know if this was a problem at previous versions, as I changed my settings recently.

I now have enabled the following:
"Rename instead of overwrite/skip existing files"
"Auto rename video file to collection name"

My guess is that while checking if the file already exists, the folder of the collection is mistaken for the video file. So then, as Alt.Binz thinks that the video file already exists, it renames it to CollectionName.1

I know, it's just a minor annoyance, but I though I should mention it.

I noticed this happening sometimes with 0.44.3, but I think it was fixed in 0.44.3.1 or .2

No, single video under one collection.

This was quite frequent so I did not keep a sample NZB. I am trying a new download now, to see if it can be used as a sample NZB.

However driver8 may be right. I am using 0.44.3.0. Up until now I only pressed the "Check for new Alt.Binz version" button and made an update as soon as it said there was a newer version. However, as I have just come to realize, the button does not check the version on the 4th level, so minor fixes from 0.44.3.0 to 0.44.3.1 or 0.44.3.2 are not shown as updates. So I have missed versions 0.44.3.1 and 0.44.3.2.

Since I have already started the test, will continue with it on 0.44.3.0. I assume this will be a positive test. After that I will switch to 0.44.3.2 and test it again.

Will post the results. If the NZB is a positive on both 0.44.3.0 and 0.44.3.2 I will send you the NZB. If not I will send you the first NZB (if any) that I come across on 0.44.3.2. However since driver8 has mentioned that it is fixed in 0.44.3.2 there may just be no problem to solve anymore. ;)

Well the sample NZB downloaded and was renamed just right. However, now that I think of it, this time I did something different. I usually select "Change Unrar Folder" and set the collection to unrar to another disk in the same folder with other video files. Maybe this is the cause of the problem?

Doing another test now to try to reproduce the symptom.

Have also tried to download 0.44.3.2, but I seem to be unable to get this. The link still downloads the original 0.44.3.0. I must be missing something, or be doing something wrong...

So I am still testing with 0.44.3.0.

I also usually download to my SSD and unrar to a different disk.

Yes, the about button shows the version to be 0.44.3.0. Have downloaded the file 3 times just to make sure. The link does lead to 0.44.3.0 and not to 0.44.3.2.

Since yesterday I have found 2 NZBs that when downloaded were renamed with an .1 at the end of the filename. Have sent you the NZBs per PM.

But as driver8 said this may already be fixed in version 0.44.3.2 and I have tested these with 0.44.3.0.

OK, I managed to update Alt.Binz to 0.44.3.2, so I tested the sample NZBs again. With 0.44.3.2 the renaming was done successfully. :)

However, I also noticed something else. Not sure if it influences anything, but I will mention it. I saw in the NZBs folder that most of the NZBs are there twice. Once with the collection name and a second time with .1 after the collection name. This is probably because I use 2 RSS feeds and the same NZBs are received by both RSS feeds. Not sure which one is kept, or how this works in this case, but I do not see any paused collections in the download queue, so Alt.Binz seems to be smart enough to somehow bundle the two NZBs into one. The NZBs seem to arrive at almost the same time, as the timer seems to be the same for both feeds. But which name does the bundled NZB keep?

Anyway, maybe this is also fixed in 0.44.3.2, so I will give it some time to see what will happen in the next few days.

Maybe try one rss tab with both feeds. Default is that only first filter hit will be downloaded.

Regarding bundling NZBs -> setup->NZB #1->Merge collections with same name (you probably have that checked)

Yes, I have checked "Merge collections with same name". :)

Hmm, putting both feeds in the same rss tab sounds like a good idea. When you say "Default is that only first filter hit will be downloaded", I guess this applies to each single time the timer is activated and does not "remember" hits of the previous times the timer was activated, right?

OK, here the explanation. You create new RSS tab, you put both urls under that RSS tab entry (you're doing all of that in RSS setup screen). Once timer hits it refreshes one then the other url. All entries (that are not already inthere - read below)) are put in list which you see in the majority of the rss tab. Entries are kept in the list for xx days (customizable via modifying rss abz file via some sqlite3 editor) Default is 7 days I think. Also, default option is that new entries with same name will not be added to the list, if there is same name already in the list (that prevents same releases added twice). That last option can also be customized via external editor, so it could allow multiple entries with same name.

That's great! I think I will try to increase RSS entries history to 30 days. Will watch it to see how much the DB will grow. It it is doing OK i thin I will try 60 days and then 90 days. The DB seems to be 15MB now, so if the default is 7 days, with 90 days the DB should grow to about just under 200MB. Don't have any experience with SQLITE databases, but it seems to me that 200MB should be no problem.

However, concerning duplicate entries even in the same RSS feed, there will very often be the same RSS entry twice or even three times with different name variations, e.g.:
Entry Name
[ Entry Name ]
Entry Name [source]
[ Entry Name ] - [xxx] - Entry Name

I have noticed that when manually adding some of these NZBs, their names are cleaned up and the NZB is added with the plain Entry Name. Is there a way to cleanup the names of all, or at least some of these NZBs, in the RSS feed, while they are received, just like it is done when the NZB is added manually? This would lead to the result that these entries would not be added multiple times, due to the automation you have mentioned that entries that already exist are skipped.

By the way, since I have installed 0.44.3.2 there have been no more .1 renamed movies. As I still haven't joined the RSS feeds, there have been some duplicate NZBs (with .1 on the second NZB filename), but this did not result in any renaming to .1. So I think it is safe to say that the issue is solved and no longer exists in 0.44.3.2. ;)

rdl - do you know which field in the rss.abz file controls the xx days items are kept for please?  I'd like to increase mine from 7 to 14 days please.  Thanks in advance.  Regards.

It looks like default is 20 days. Table main, column recycle_items_days.
