Hey all,

phpar2.exe is an optimized version of the original par2.exe from sourceforge by a gent named Paul Houle.  It is 100% syntax compatible with par2.exe, but 3-4 times faster. I have verified that it works fine with alt.binz, if you simply replace \misc\par2.exe with this version (of course you need to rename phpar2.exe to par2.exe).  Try it, I believe you'll be impressed at how much faster it is.

Have you tried comparing it to par2.exe alt.binz uses? Try it.

Yes I have, on my 3.2ghz Phenom II X4 (quad core), phpar is 3 to 4 times faster.  I directly compared par2.exe from the altbinz\misc folder against phpar.exe before I posted this recommendation.

That is very strange, better double check that. The reason is that altbinz already uses phpar 1.3

Seems quite impossible that alt.binz uses phpar 1.3 seing as the binary from the site above is completely different from the one in misc?

Recompiled version with few bug fixes that seems to drag forever in original par2 source.
