Downloads not starting
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:06:12 AM »
Hi,

I've been using a full/contributer version of Alt.Binz for some time, but can't remember what version I had installed. It was working fine but sometimes crashing in win7 x64, so I thought I'd try the new version.

My problem is that the new version just won't start downloading. I've tried clicking on the Connect button a couple of times incase it was off but this made no difference. The scheduler and pause is off. The threads list is empty (adding a thread does nothing). Queue size is 4,677.87 MB (so it should start afaik). There's 12gb free on the hdd, and it's set to stop when it hits 10mb free.

My log (which strangely doesn't update until Alt.Binz closes) shows:
[19/03/2010 6:54:49 PM] [Main] Alt.Binz 0.31.5 [16.03.2010] started.
[19/03/2010 6:54:49 PM] [Main] Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2
[19/03/2010 6:55:01 PM] [Main] 0 items loaded into download history list in 0ms.
[19/03/2010 6:55:01 PM] [Main] 0 outdated items removed from download history list in 0ms.
[19/03/2010 7:03:45 PM] [Main] Alt.Binz 0.31.5 [16.03.2010] closed.

Any ideas? I'm yet to find another usenet app that comes close to AltBinz despite it's occasional crashes.

Once again. If you change your password on the forum you must change it also in alt.binz

Lecks,

I am using W7 64bit and have never had it crash.  You may want to check the System Event Log for the reason behind the crash.

Gah, sorry, I should have realised that. Resetting my login with my new password fixed it. Thanks.

As for the crashing, I'm not really too worried about it. It seems to be when I'm playing something in VLC while it's downloading (with ctrl-w in alt.binz). The video I'm watching usually stops, then I go back to alt.binz and realise it's frozen/stopped downloading and have to end it's task and restart it. It's damn cool that it has this feature at all and I can understand that it could well be related to VLC or my system rather than alt.binz.

If it happens with the new version I might have a look, but as I said, I'm not to worried about it since it's only when I'm not AFK anyway.

Thanks again.
