Does Alt.Binz have built in UN-RAR functionality?
« on: October 27, 2010, 05:53:29 PM »
Been a long time user and when I go to build a new box just wondering, (and also for new folks) does Alt.Binz have the ability to un-rar a set on it's own if you dont' have WINRAR installed? I've always had winrar so I don't know if it uses the version on the box or if it can do it itself?

I also use QuickPar to repair but I know Alt.Binz has built in par fixing ability.

So in general, new Windows 7 install, if you install Alt.Binz do you need Winrar installed as well? Y | N ?

Thanks.

No, you don't need any other external program, unrar (and par2 repair) is handled internally (well, actually by unrar.dll and par2.exe that it unpacks). Alt.Binz can in fact run standalone from a connected thumb drive without any installation of anything at all.

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying and pointing that out.
That makes my life easier and all my friends who don't know what or how to un-rar something. (Parents)
