altbinz on lap top for travel
« on: December 20, 2021, 05:36:44 AM »
Hi RDL
I had asked you awhile ago  if it was OK to use my account from my desktop onto a new lap top I got for travelling. You said it was OK.  Well I finally got one and I copied the last download I was using.
altbinz_0.47.3 zip
Well when I brought it over to the lap top it did not install all the folders. Like download , nzb and openssl. I didn't realize and tried to open the altbinz.exe file and it came up with the warning about not being a member etc. I just closed it and decided to ask you.
What should I be exactly doing to bring it over to my lap top. I want to get it right and not do something wrong here.  I am leaving - well supposed to be - but with omicron - not sure - in about 2 weeks.
I am thinking the upgrades just bring your program to the new version.  So all folders don't need redoing. But in this case what do I do.
If you could give me directions on how to - I would appreciate it.
If things have changed for doing this let me know. And I will what ever the rules are. As I love Alt Binz and don't want to lose it. :)
Thanks

No problem you using it on travel laptop.

Regarding install - you have few options:
- clean install - just unpack zip file in some folder (you can also create Altbinz folder in Program Files (x86)), run it and it will create folder structure in "Users) folder, but you need to fill in login data, server data and set things in altbinz again
- clean install in portable mode - just unpack zip file in some folder (I run it in c:\Alt.Binz"), create "misc" folder in that same folder (so it knows it should run in portable mode) and it will create the rest of folder structure in that same folder and not in "Users" folder. But you need to fill in login data, server data and set things in altbinz again (or you can copy all files from desktop to same folders on laptop once you exit altbinz the first time)
- You can run latest installer and then unpack zip over installed program - same thing applies with copying files from desktop if you want to.

Regarding rules - do not worry about it if you're <= 3 computers rule.
