Title: Help with RSS Feed Refresh
Post by: rolaids on September 02, 2008, 10:38:52 pm
So I've added two RSS URLs in the RSS tab, these two specifically:

http://www.newzleech.com/rss.php?n=80&g=alt.binaries.tv
http://www.newzleech.com/rss.php?n=80&g=alt.binaries.hdtv.x264

I added two entrys to the filter, and figured out to have it refresh automatically you set the time and then click the "Timer" button so everything greys out. My question is only the RSS feed that is selected refreshed, or is every URL in the list refreshed? Because I am not seeing all new posts in the window, only the one that happens to be selected. If this is the case, the RSS feature is mostly useless if you ask me, since not everything is contained inside of one newsgroup. Perhaps I am doing this wrong--which I hope is the case--so if I am, please set me straight.

Thank you in advance.

Only one at a time.

Which can be: Yahoo Pipe, RssMix etc etc made up of as many feeds as you want.

I'm sorry that you find the feature useless.

from Newzleech rss help:

Example 1
To be informed of posts that match 'Fedora Core 4' in all groups you'd use:
http://www.newzleech.com/rss.php?n=50&s=Fedora+Core+4

use as much of those links and combine them with yahoo pipes or rssmix, like hecks said

I don't find the feature useless, I just meant if there are 10 different groups I want it to check automatically, but it will only check the one I have selected, the autonomous benefits are reduced dramatically, since I'd have to cycle through each one. However, I see that RSSMix will combine them for me, so a BIG thank you to you both for the information! Alt.Binz just became a whole lot more useful to me. :) Thanks again, this seems like a wonderful program and I'm making the transition over from Newsbin.

Don't forget to check out the Version History, a lot has changed since 0.25.0:

If you want the most recent version 0.28.2 (which includes Newzbin support), the Donate button is your friend. ;)

Well, i have the feeds working courtesy of yahoo pipes and they're refreshing on schedule, but nothing is being added to my queue. For example, I wanted to download sausages in 1080p. I added both "sausages*1080p*x264 | A" and "hd1080-sr | A" to the filter, yet nothing was downloaded. I can even see the file posted in the feed window:

[5893]-[#a.b.hdtv.x264@EFNet]-[Sausages.1080p.BluRay.x264-HD1080]-[001-106] "hd1080-sr.nfo" yEnc

So what am i doing wrong here?

Try:

*sausages*1080p*x264* | A

Note the extra asterisks.  Without them, it will try to match a subject with 'sausages' at the start and 'x264' at the end (rather than both in the middle as with your example). Remember also that matched items will be highlighted in green - I presume they're not in your case, otherwise it's a different issue.

Edit: and asterisk at end, thanks Drawde.

You might want to try:

*sausages*1080p*x264* | A

(note the extra * after x264)

You can't always predict the headers 100%, so I generally like to use a lot of wildcards (*).
