Help a NewStarter! Download Question.....
« on: January 16, 2009, 01:23:37 PM »
Hi all, first post after my transfer from torrent to newsgroup.

I've read all the sticky's etc and done my research but i've a couple of questions for you.

I've downloaded several hd films but a few of them (maybe 20%) have the same problem. For eg, one of them should have been 4.63gb but when its finished, in my download folder it shows up as 980mb and will not unrar, corrupt, missing etc, errors. On alt.binz it says \parts 7p - what does this mean?

Another thing - out of maybe 30 downloads only 5 films have unrar'd themselves? Why are the others not automatically doing it?

Thanks in advance

Not sure i'll check. So baically there's no point me downloading anything over 160 days?

Just a quick one - i've just installed the latest version but its installed to my desktop so the config and que paths are wrong, is there anyway way of changing them or can i install again without losing all my stuff?

just move all the directories to where you want it then create a shortcut of altbinz.exe and place that on your desktop.

btw can you make a screemshot of those files you mentionend and the correspoding entry in your download queue and post it?

I've just checked and the files are 260 days old, i guess thats why i can't get all of them?

PS - would you know why only some of my files are automatically unraring? Only about 10% have done it?

yes that is way to old

there have to be par2 files inside the same collection in your download queue ad at least one of them must be downloaded (the sammlest usually)

"at least one of them must be downloaded"

Does that happen automatically? or is there settings for it?

you can set it to do that automatic (see setup -> nzb -> import as paused)
uncheck "small par2" file and check "par2 recovery files if size is larger than 0  bytes"

under setup -> nzb #2 check "move small par2 file in front of the queue

if you add now a collection with rar and par2 files it will download the par2 file first (you can see it in your par2 tab)
after that collection has finished it will auto download more par2 files if needed (alt.binz auto unpauses them) then it will unrar the collection.
You can always follow the status in the par2 tab and log tab.
