Integrated Auto-Update

drudge:
There's been some discussion about having some kind of version update built into Alt.BinZ.. What method would you like (if any) ?

xpose:
I like the way firefox updates, asks you to install now or after you close and restart the app.

kC_:
only downside to auto-updates is that it will only take 1 leak then everyone will get latest versions contributor or not. (unless it somehow integrated a forum cookie for download authorization?)

if anything at all, then a notification that "an update from a download of altbinz already on your hard drive is availiable, would you like altbinz to update now"

networkn:
I think the leak problem is easily solved by requiring to enter your forum username and password to AB update config. Make it so that the
update process only happens once a day at most, to keep traffic and load off the update server.

The leak problem would be just as much a problem if someone was to torrent the latest release.

Ascathon:
Or:

*Make two public versions. One for contributors which contains the auto update functions. And one for non-contributors with that options disabled in code.

* Or disable the update function in the public releases and re-enable it in the following daily build.
