Title: an android version
Post by: craigthaagensen on May 17, 2011, 12:40:57 pm
with android becoming very popular and tablets predicted to be massive sellers I would like to suggest a version of alt.binz for android

I for one would certainly use it , and im sure there are others  ;)

It was answered many time.
There will be no android, iOS, OSX or Linux versions of this program.

Understandably, the OP like others doesn't necessarily understand why rewriting a Delphi app for Android just isn't possible.

But let me frame the request differently:  if Alt.Binz had an API for remote access and control, would the OP or anyone else write an Android/iOS/WindowsPhone app for it? I'd be quite interested to know if there's any potential demand out there for such 3rd-party DIY integration with Alt.Binz.

When I say API, I mean along the lines of this (http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/api).

How about porting altbinz to Lazarus? That way porting to other architectures would be a whole lot easier.

Presumably you've tried this yourself and know how Lazarus works? Then you'll understand how limited the compatability is.

I have ported Delphi apps using Lazarus (Windows to Linux) so I know it's not just a matter of click and recompile.

Personally I am very satisfied with altbinz and only wish for me would be a x64 version.
