I'd find it useful to be able to select a specific download and tell it to ignore the schedule and download immediately.
I know I could just disable the schedule, but if it's a long download and there's lots of other stuff in my queue, I don't want to have to keep checking every 5 minutes to see if the download is complete so that I can turn the schedule back on to avoid hitting my download cap.

wouldn't it be much easier to disable scheduler and have the pop-up or a soundfile tell u when the dowload has finished ?

Works if I'm at my PC, not if I'm out of the room or, indeed, out of the house.
I'll often want to kick off a download as I'm leaving work so it's available when I get home, or one of my housemates might want something downloading quickly while I'm at work or on my way out of the house.

that's a valid point.
still it seems to me like a very odd thing to request. ignoring the scheduler is breaking your own rules, which raises the questtion wether those rules realy fit u...

In my case (Virgin Media) there's no hard cap but my connection gets throttled to 25% speed if I download more than 7Gb between 10am and 3pm and/or 3.5Gb between 4pm and 9pm, so I schedule all my downloads for 9pm to 10am by default.
While it's fine for 90% of stuff, sometimes I just need or want something outside of that timeframe but don't want to risk hitting the cap because other downloads kick themselves off once the one I want has finished.

i see ur point but i think the better solution for ur problem would be a scheduler that can handle GB-transferlimits to determine when to stop downloading.

in the meantime an other idea would be to disable the scheduler and pause all collections (also paused import via rss) instead. whenever u want someting u just unpause it manualy the same thing in the evening. by daily resetting the transferd data counter (left-click) u could keep track of your downloads during the day to avoid the cap...
