[BUG] Decode engine bails
« on: December 17, 2007, 10:54:26 PM »
As requested by cr4zyfr4g my bugreport:

Version: 0.25.0
OS: Vista SP1 Beta Build 6001

AntiVirus: Kaspersky
Firewall: None
UsenetServer: Hitnews.eu

Alt.Binz log   20071217  :
http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/29707/bug-log-txt.html
Kaspersky Log:
Shows no intrusions / scans in the alt.binz directory

Problem:
After a X amount of files the decode engine stops working. Downloading continues, files remain in the temp directory listed in directory's with weird names. Directory's contain all parts. (Part.1 -> part.403).

Restart: did not solve the prob
Restart and delete the file on which it stopped decoding: Downloading continued properly (file ~81 in the logfile). These files have been decoded again, the older files which havent been decoded appeared as "finished" and "green" in the list. Par2 list shows them as "missing". Files still in the temp. directory

EDIT: Addition; error code returned after deleting the "crashed" File:
Code: [Select]
access violation at adress 0044FB97 in module alt.binz adress 00000057

Hope you can do something with this. When additional information is required you can use this addy as msn, or just post down here :).
Greetings, Snailin

I have the same thing.
Only, I know where the problem lies.

It has to do with a crappy program called GameGuard from nProtect. (Look up on google)
It stops decoding files when it's running....
So now I have about 30 100mb files thats stuck on decoding. All I can do is throw them out of the list and re-download them and let them decode again.
I wish there was a altbinz.exe -command to decode where it left off or something :(

Now I wanted to post a request, but I can't since I'm not a donator, which is fair.
So I'll just say it here.

I want to be able to download while I play games. But decoding asks CPU and HDD time.
Why not a function to disable/enable it, simply like the auto unrar function?

There are a number of new features for throttling or changing priorities on Alt.Binz's various processes, including decoding - plus article caching in RAM - in versions after 0.25.0.  These should satisfy your needs, I think.

Version history is here:
