altbinz has been working fine till i reformated and reinstalled it.

now it uses minium 75 - 95% of my cpu, and slows down the computer.

it is a great program and i wish to donate but this problem may make
me to return to newsleecher

Which OS? Antivirus? Any log messages?  We really need more info before we can help you out.

windows xp corp sp2
zonealarm 7

i will reinstall 24.2
went back to 24.1 to be able to download
which should give you a clue,  whatever the changes where between
24.1 and 24.2 is coursing the problem

Let us know if you still have problems after you reinstall 0.24.2 and try with antivirus disabled and/or Alt.binz given firewall access.
