Problems under Windows 7
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:51:04 PM »
Hi,

I just tried to run alt.binz (version 0.28.4) under the Windows 7 Beta (32 bit, german version).

After a few minutes (sometimes seconsds) alt.binz looses connection to the usenet server (could not connect (retry in <n>sec)). A short time after that a message appears "Usenet progy does not work any more", windows searches for a solution but does not find any.

Once it crashed with an application error message:
Exception EAcessViolation in module altbinz.exe at 00002254.
Access violation at address 00402254 in module 'altbinz.exe'. Write of address 0000001C.

The Event view had the following information:
Exception Code: 0xc0000005
error offset: 0x00002254

Exception Code: 0xc0000005
error offset: 0x00002296

Perhaps wait until it comes out of beta before reporting bugs with it?

what do you think is the purpose of the beta?

1. find bugs in the new OS and remove them before the release
2. find compatibility problems with the new OS in other application

so maybe this is worth investigating...

Maybe, but not here, since there's nothing at all that can be done about it until the RTM.  So:

OK, other users including Rdl are reporting that Alt.Binz works fine under Windows 7 beta, so let's open this thread again to work out what your real problem is.
