Article does not exist.
« on: October 14, 2010, 10:54:38 PM »
Hi,

Whenever I try to import an NZB file into Alt.Binz, the download starts, and when it reaches 100 percent it quickly gives me an error message stating "430 No such article exists".

Can someone tell me what is going on here? GrabIt works fine with every single NZB file I import, yet Alt.Binz does not. I tried reading up on this error, and one guy said to open TCP port 119 on the firewall, so I did, and that did nothing.

I have a feeling that this a problem on my part - but I'm not sure of that.

That is an error code returned by your usenet server, not Alt.Binz. It means that the server doesn't have the article, usually because it falls outside of its retention period. If you couldn't connect to the server (because of e.g. firewall) you wouldn't see this message at all.

I'd be very surpised if Grabit can dl the same NZB from the same server configured the same way where Alt.Binz can't. This would point to a problem we haven't seen from any user before, so it would be worth following up with some controlled tests.

Thanks for your reply, Hecks.

Well, GrabIt always works for me. I import the NZB file, it connects, does the job, downloads and ends up in my "GrabIt Downloads" in my documents folder.

Alt.Binz, however, will go to 100% and as soon as it hits it, it will say that the Article does not exist. So something is up here. I go to my downloads folder for Alt.Binz and a dead index file is there, and nothing else.

But since I have moderately fiddled around with settings on my end, as well as called my ISP Bell Canada (they said my connection was fine for Usenet), I can only wonder if it is a problem with Alt.Binz.

I wonder what tests would have to be done. Not anything rigorous, I hope?  ???

Can you confirm for us that you have tested the *same* NZB with the *same* server setup in both Grabit and Alt.Binz, and only Alt.Binz is showing 'article not found' errors?

Can you also confirm for us that you're using version 0.25.0 downloaded from this site and not from any other source?

As for the downloads:

I go to the main page of this web site. Click on downloads. Go here: https://www.altbinz.net/index.php?page=downloadz

Then on this page: https://www.altbinz.net/index.php?page=downloadz&show_id=32 I downloaded the one from apedesign.nl. Setup went perfectly and no files were corrupted and version 0.25 was downloaded and installed.

I'm quite busy right now, but I will do the screenshot process later on.

Play with select group option under server properties. Don't forget disconnect/connect once you're done.
