I have a problem in that when I press connect, it has a lock in it and won't connect.

Lock icon means ssl checkbox is checked. So, is it ssl address/port?

i think u are confusing something. altbinz is only a newsreader not a newsserver u need a usenetprovider to connect to. that provider will tell u all necessary information about ports and ur login.

see: http://www.newsgroupreviews.com/usenet-providers.html

No.
First altbinz.com is not related to altbinz. Second, neither altbinz.com or altbinz.net is address of the usenet server.
Altbinz has NOTHING to do with usenet providing.

Hi,
Thanks guy's you were right, I had astraweb on the computer, it didn't download because I had paused, but it also had a lock.
My netbook had altbinz, and wouldn't come down, after reading your posts I changed netbook to astraweb, it started to come down
then looked at computer and noticed the paused, changed it and immediately it started to come down.
I was trying to resolve the lock, when the issue was in different areas on both machines.
What is the lock for? What is it's purpose? It is still on both machines.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Ron

SSL means "Secure Sockets Layer", connections are encrypted.
For security purpose, you should let it checked.

I invite you to read that wiki article :
