Feeling uncomfortable.
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:40:30 PM »
Hello,

I'm using Alt.binz for quite some time now.
Using it daily, seeing it growing and growing, everyday more features etc, with a lot of effort from the creator avery day, and totaly free of charge...!

And that's what is making me feeling uncomfortable.

I want to do something in return, that's how my character is!
So Rdl, be so kind, and make yourself a international bank account somewhere so that I and people who do have the same feelings as I have, can make a donation to show one's  appreciation for all your effort.
Thank you.

Regards, Gompy

The donation thing has been mentioned a couple of times. PayPal has a really easy and convenient donation system:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/xcl/rec/donate-intro-outside

A donation button could be added to the alt.binz homepage in no time.

While many people will donate gladly, there is some small risk: Some people will start bitching and demanding this and that feature. After all, they donated 1 dollar, so they have a right to a 24-hours help service and hourly updates. ;)

That's the negative approach and I'm sure Rdl can handle with that!

The positive approach: people are able to show their appreciation, if they want, for the program they're using daily and what is wrong with that?

Help will always be given in the irc-channel if wanted.

Gompy, don't get me wrong. I have also asked about a donation possibility before. Because I actually do want to donate.

Personally, I think ABZ is a much better program than commercially available software (e.g., Newsleecher). And, even though it's free, Rdl provides excellent support and invests countless hours in further improving the program.

As a possible incentive for people to donate: If you are a donator, you receive the links for daily builds by email.

That kind of policy is not what I had in mind when I wrote my message in the first place Afdad, sorry.

I am totaly disinterested in any kind of privilege in what matter!

Just show an appreciation for something that being used avery day with a lot of pleasure, that's all.

I totally agree with the donations and would be happy to show my appreciation. I do not want anything in return however if the daily builds would be shared again each day I wont say no.
