Exception errors and DIB handle issue
« on: March 24, 2007, 09:06:04 PM »
Hello,

Only recently discovered Alt.Binz and like the pogram very much.  I'm currently using version 0.24.0 but to date have not been able to download reliably due to 2 problems occurring, of which 1 serious.

DIB handle:
When Alt.Binz is downloading and I try to resize / maximize its window a popup message appears tellig "Can' locate the DIB handle".  The program look to be continuing but I don't understand its impact.

Exception error:
The serious  one causing me not to be able to use this program.  Somewhere  during downloading all of a sudden a exception error occurs.  After this error Alt.Binz continues downloading but non of the downloaded files is encoded into the rar or other file it actually is.  They stay in the temp directory umtil no space is available anymore where Alt.Binz then stops.  Following are the offending lines from the log.

Code: [Select]
[3/22/2007 11:00:49 PM] [Dec] Exception Access violation at address 0040406E in module 'altbinz.exe'. Read of address 00000073
[3/22/2007 11:00:49 PM] [Dec] Firstpart=1;NumOfParts=134;Encoding=Yenc;Outputdir=G:\AltBinzDownloads\Kuifje collection boxset 6-7_5.17;OutputdirExists;Size=52832251;Expandingfile;FreeSpace=94093;TempFileCreated;1;2;3;4;[etc.]

I'm using xp pro sp2 english on a P3-933 as download PC.

Is this a know issue?  Couldn't find it when searching the forum though.

Best regards,

Leon

I see you're using one of the daily builds. Which one exactly?

Hi Rdl.

Great program you've created.  I'm currently using GrabIt again, but prefer yours because of the familiar / easy interface and of course the par check / unrar function.  I got it from a friend whom recommended your program to me.

I hadn't realised that apart from the version number there to be also another indicator.  The date in the About window is 01-03-2007.

If you need more, just let me know.

Thanks and best regards,

Leon

in case you hadnt noticed there is a much newer version released

0.24.1

try that and seeif you still get the error's

if you do, then join in live chat/irc and try one of the even newer daily builds.

@kC_

I had noticed, and already tried it with similar results.

The point though was the "no" response.  I understand the program is as is.  I also understand that it probably takes up a huge amount of his time with very little then the pride of making it in return.  I also understand there's probably more naggers out there then serious people responding to his program

Still, I posted a error was willing to invest time in helping it solved, he responded with a question which I replied upon and then it went dead.

No matter.  I really loved the program, but just can't get it to work proper.

All the best.

the daily builds are only availiable from the irc channel...
so if you had a daily build from elsewhere and had trouble with it, then what do you expect?

hence why i guess you had no response here.

bye

I am using V0.25.2 and have just received the same problem tonight when downloading.

I am hoping there is a way to recover the files that are stuck in the temp directory as there is about 4 gig worth.

I tried this program to decode the files in the temp directory http://rapidshare.com/files/34848156/yencDecode.zip.html

Unfortunately most were corrupt so it didn't really work. Try it out thought it may work for you.
