No Such Article Problem
« on: September 11, 2007, 10:45:27 AM »
Hey guys,
I have been using Alt.Binz for a week or so and I love it. In the last day or so I have been having some problems which are making it i impossible to use the program. On many files I attempt to download I look at the log and see in red "No Such Article" and when the file finishes downloading I am unable to open it because it has not completed properly. I thought at first it was my connection or the files were not finished uploading to my newsserver, but then I did the same downloads using the old trusty Newsbin Pro and the files downloaded and opened without problem. This isn't happening with everything I am downloading but it is happening often enough for it to be a concern.  Is there anything I need to be doing to  fix this? Is there possibly some setting I need to change, or is this a common problem with the program? Thanks for the help in advance.

Play a bit with 'Select group' and/or 'article cmd' under server properties. Some newsservers require those or they reply with article not found. But since it worked for awhile, my bet is you're using one of those newsservers which when they don't have article they reply with no such article but they refetch article so next time you ask for them, they're there. Solution is to raise retry counts and delay between them under Setup->Connection (I suggest 5 retry / 1 min).
