No such article?
« on: February 22, 2007, 09:39:24 AM »
Forgive the surely stupid question, but I need help... I added a server and I appear to be connected fine, but whenever I add something to the download queue from one of the searches, it says "No such article" and doesn't download anything. What's up?

Maybe it has low retention or it needs selecting group first before download (setup->server->choose server->click on select group->apply)

Firewall?

I had this very problem today - and discovered that I needed to specifically allow the program full range with my firewall.

I had already made sure the 119 port was open in my router but my software firewall was holding things up enough that all I could was the 430 - No such article error.

Hope that helps

That is not very likely. Alt.Binz needs port 119 (for newsserver & NL SS) and port 80 for other searchengines. Server replying with 430 cannot be related to firewall. If it was, you will not be able to contact newsserver & get 430 reply.

Well actually it does!  It fixed the problem immediately.

I tried the selecting group thing - no luck, still getting the same "no such article" message. Any other ideas?

(I would try the firewall thing, but I'm not sure exactly what to do. I'm not sure if I'm behind a firewall.)

Have you considered that server acctualy don't have those messages? Try with other program to confirm
