Quick Simple Question (I think)
« on: March 23, 2009, 05:29:47 PM »
When I have multiple downloads going in Alt.Binz, only the top one downloads. The others have the 'downloading' icon (as opposed to paused) but the progress bars never appear. If I move a download to the top of the list, it begins, but the one that WAS at the top of the list stops downloading.

How can I set it so that all my downloads will download at once?

no. not realy. at least not without mession up the structure. what u see are the collections so what u can do is join multiple collections into one which is then beeing downloaded.
Downloading works like this:
Let say u are alowed 10 simultaneous connections. then the first 10 blocks are downloaded at the same time. when one finishes the next starts... one connection works one block.

This is Usenet, not p2p/torrents.
Altbinz does not need to simultaneously download multiple collections.
Collections will be downloaded one after the other.
When one collection is done, the next will start
There's no point in downloading several collections at the same time, because the peak achievable bandwidth is not relevant to each collection individually (as it is in torrents),
peak bandwidth speed is relevant only to your physical connection speed / the available/free bandwidth on that physical link, + how many threads (connections) to the Usenet server you have open.
