Short pause after each article download

I've been noticing some behavior with recent versions (currently 0.26.1) where there is a pause after each article download, and the speed drops to nearly 0 kb/s. Then the next article starts and the speed increases to the limit. The same articles download without a hitch in newsleecher. I have not seen anything alarming the logs, and the articles are complete. Any thoughts?

Can you try some of the previous versions?
Some firewall/avp software that monitors nntp port?

No, I mean, do you have something already installed that slows down traffic.
Oh yes, also try setting 'Select group' under server properties, then restart connections and try.

I don't have any firewall/avp software installed that monitors nntp. Only AVG antivirus and windows firewall.

No luck with the "select group" option.

I should note that this problem is not constant. Sometimes the downloads are fluid between articles, other times the pause occurs.

I see in specs that AVG monitors nntp port.
