Trouble Understanding How Newsgroups Work...

Unless I'm wrong, altbinz doesn't seem to search through newsgroups (independent of public indexers). Also, my faves don't appear to be saving properly.

No it doesn't. You can ignore whole XPAT/newsgroups tabs. It's useless anyway for the last decade or so...
