The reason for this is the following:

you add stuff to the queue, then let it load. Then few hours later or next day you check download queue and maybe par2 tab. Download queue says everything at 100%. Par2 tab displays all green & fine. But then later on you notice a release hasn't been loaded, there is nothing on HDD - or you don't notice and forget about it.
The reason of course is that the release has been DMCA removed and nothing has been loaded, not even the par2 file -> nothing red on PAR2 tab.
And if nothing has been loaded there is also no folder on the HDD and it's very hard to notice that it hadn't get loaded.

An empty folder would help with that, then you could see that actually nothing has been loaded.

Right now you manually have to compare folders on HDD with download queue and see if for everything in download queue at 100% you have a folder on HDD, and if not then it probably has been DMCA removed - that is very hard to do. And if there is no par2, nzb or other paused file in the release in the queue then you won't notice even with this manual method as then it won't even stay at 100% status in download queue (and if you press on cleanup before then you are also lost).

Of course creating folders even if no file has been loaded is only one possible approach to this solution. A different one would be to somehow mark releases that actually haven't been loaded in the download queue or par2 tab (even if no par2 file has been loaded).

-> No matter how it's done, it would be nice to have something that makes it easy to see if something hasn't been downloaded.

The Log tab already includes the relevant info, have you tried this? Scan it for red lines.

I agree with p1nky. Empty folder would help.

thanks rdl :)

Hecks, the log has an abundance of data in it, for me it doesn't contain much more than the last 10s of downloads or so :)
I could turn off the detailled logging and make it display a lot more lines, but still it wouldn't be a good solution in my opinion, as basically you would have to turn off most of the logging just to see if stuff has been downloaded (or notice that it hasn't).

Using the filesystem for what is basically an error logging function seems excessive to me. Then you just have to delete the folders ... what else are you going to do with them? And you still wouldn't know why they were empty without checking your log ...

Perhaps Stats/Download History info could be more specific instead, with a column for dl status?

Well Hecks as I said I'm happy with any solution that lets you see easily if something failed to download.

Download status in download queue would certainly be nice, that would probably also mean that downloads, that don't have any paused files left, will stay in the queue as 100% (while at the moment if you add a NZB without any par2 files and no other paused files it will disappear after download - and it would be nice to see everything in the download queue with status even after it has been downloaded).

But I also think that the empty folder solution might be much easier for rdl to implement and it's in my opinion still a very good solution because it will remind you 100% that something went wrong if the folder is empty. You can press the Cleanup button and you will still know something went wrong, hell abz could even crash and you'd still know that something went wrong with this download. -> In the end I think it's the easiest solution while being a very robust one that you can always rely on, even though it's outside of abz and in the filesystem.
