User Survey: Search Engines
« on: July 03, 2009, 08:13:51 pm »
It's poll time here in Alt.Binzland, the topic is integrated search engines, in two parts, bringing together stuff from other threads:

[1] Vote for the one already integrated in Alt.Binz that you use MOST OFTEN (I know, shame you can't choose more than one :P) and post your reasons. Do a top 5 if you must. :)

[2] Post suggestions for new search engines.  If we have enough of a list after a while, we can have a new poll. ;)

2) Merlins-portal

A friend came across this a while ago, and let me know about it just after he got me into newsgroups (I'm a converted rapidshare/megashares addict).

Arguably it's not the best in terms of content and speed of content getting onto the site, but it's incredibly easy to use and I've found some good gems on there.

On a side note, if anyone has any sites similar to this with decent content (I currently use nzbindex,tvnzb,merlins-portal, and didn't like the clutter in nzbmatrix) I'm happy to accept pm's.

Yet again, thanks Rdl for this amazing tool thingymajig.  ;)

I suggest Ultrasearch from ultraleecher .... it's quite a nice db with lots of search features.
But it's not for free ... thats a prob ?

For the German users and of course also the differently languages ones would not be bad, e.g., nzb.to! Very clear and absolutely free of charge. :)

This is right with him announce! But you have implemented also newzbin. And there one must also announce himself! Who wants could announce itself with Nzb.to. Is also absolutely free.

Hi there,

what about adding the searchengine nzbclub.com?
because I was looking for an indexservice with retention over 400 days (here 500+ retention),
interesting for users of high capacity usenetproviders.
even supersearch has only 370 days

p.s. I've searched for sites in http://www.dmoz.org//Computers/Usenet/Search/NZB//

what are your experiences with it.
is it worth to be added?

what about adding the searchengine nzbclub.com?

Tried 5 casual search (getting answers in binsearch and bintube) and got no result...

Today: 625 new NZB

I guess this site indexes only few groups? (edit: answer here http://www.nzbclub.com/usenetgroups.aspx)

Anyway, not for me, but looks promising if more groups in index
